Athletes—How you can beat the pressure to succeed in stressful situations and win!

Hey everyone, Mark Grove here. This is my first post here on Sports Fan20. This article is on how pro athletes handle tight pressure situations that make or break them. When it comes to pressure situations in sports like PGA Golf, NHL Hockey, NBA Basketball or NFL Football, what’s the best way to succeed and not choke.

Well, besides giving up altogether and quitting I’ll give you some

tips to performing your best in your chosen sport you love.

1-Be willing to fail—many times.

2-There’s always going to be pressure to win, so get in there and do some of the things no other athlete will like extra practice, or things that have scared you in the past and still do. Like lack of physical play on your part or not being able to sink certain shots in golf or basketball.

3-If you need to-find a coach you have to pay who will drive you to do the things you need to win. Even if that means shelling out huge bucks. When you do that the real winners get separated from the losers. Just using one tip or technique from a pro coach can pay off  in more money and accolades. Only if you apply those things and

mean business.

Think about it this way, the best pro athletes fail constantly. For every good shot another  bad shot and failure is around the corner. “Real positive thinking, Eh?

Putting in pressure situations in regular season play in the bigs won’t help you forever. If you’re not ready mentally and physically to do a job, you won’t get the job done. If that makes any sense. Getting extra practice in on things you can’t get a handle on will help propel your game so much in the future it’s insane!

Practicing a different sport you’re not good at, or doing some   daring thing can sometimes help you deal with stress and become accustomed to it, knowing it’s not the stress its self that is hurting your game, but the way you deal with it.

One key to all of this is for a pro or amateur athlete to be able to push their mind past the stress of a certain situation. If I miss this putt I’ll make 40 G’s versus 400 G’s.

Focus on what you need to do not on what if I fail. That’s why prep work with more practice and doing more than you can handle will help you or defeat you in the end. You can be too ready and fail anyway. So just do it anyway. You can do it!
